What is Azure Marketplace?

Azure Marketplace, presented as Microsoft Marketplace, is the catalogue of cloud solutions, AI applications and agents available to Microsoft customers, covering infrastructure services, databases, collaboration and security alongside agents for Microsoft 365 Copilot, Teams and Outlook. It includes a conversational discovery tool where a buyer describes a business need rather than browsing categories.

Extending into Copilot agents is the significant recent development. An organisation that has deployed Copilot across its workforce now has a distribution channel for capabilities that plug directly into where people already work, which is a materially different proposition from installing software.

Buying through the existing cloud agreement is the mechanism doing the real work, as with every cloud marketplace. Procurement approval for a new supplier is slow, and a purchase billed through an account the organisation already holds bypasses that queue entirely.

Search by business need rather than by category acknowledges the practical problem with catalogues this large. A buyer who does not know the product name cannot find it in a taxonomy, and describing the outcome is closer to how the requirement actually arrives.
