What is Infor Public Sector?

Infor Public Sector is Infor's industry suite for government, covering financial management, asset management, permitting, service delivery and the operational systems local and state agencies run. It is delivered as part of Infor CloudSuite, the vendor's cloud application portfolio.

Infor's approach across its markets is to ship industry specific functionality rather than a generic platform requiring heavy configuration, and public sector is a strong case for that. Fund accounting, encumbrance handling, grant tracking and statutory reporting are not variations on commercial finance, they are a different model where the objective is demonstrating that money was spent within authority rather than reporting profit.

Connecting siloed operations is the stated aim and it matters because government agencies accumulate systems by department and by funding cycle. A public works asset, the permit that authorised work on it and the fund the work was charged to are one chain of events that most agencies can only reconstruct manually.
