What is HHAeXchange?

HHAeXchange is a homecare software platform serving providers, payers and caregivers, covering scheduling, clinical documentation, billing and claims, payroll, revenue cycle services, electronic visit verification and state-sponsored compliance programmes.

Serving both providers and payers from one platform is the structural position and it explains the company's reach. HHAeXchange operates state-sponsored EVV portals, which means several state Medicaid programmes have selected it as the aggregator every provider in that state must submit visits through. State information centres are published for Arkansas, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. For a provider operating in one of those states, the choice of whether to interact with HHAeXchange is not really a choice.

The provider-side product covers home and community based services, personal care, intellectual and developmental disability services and self direction, with operations tooling for scheduling and a caregiver mobile app, clinical and value-based care features, and a billing stack spanning claims, private pay, payroll and revenue cycle management services. CarePay is a payroll product built specifically for homecare.

The payer-side product serves managed care organisations and state Medicaid programmes with business intelligence dashboards, program integrity tools, member care and network management, and value-based care support. Program integrity is the payer term for fraud and improper payment detection, which in homecare overwhelmingly means verifying that billed visits actually occurred, and having both sides of the transaction on one platform is what makes that tractable. Pricing is not published.

Program integrity in homecare largely means verifying that billed visits actually occurred. Having the provider's visit record and the payer's claim on one platform makes that verification tractable.
