Ease of use is the claim Alora leads with and it is backed by an unusually specific figure: more than 90 percent of nursing staff surveyed reported Alora was the easiest system they had ever used. In home health that statistic matters more than a feature comparison would suggest, because documentation is completed by visiting nurses on a tablet in a client's home, often between appointments, and a system that takes twenty minutes per visit instead of eight determines how many patients a nurse can see in a day.

Billing breadth is the other substantive strength. Alora supports billing for all major payer types including Medicare, Medicaid and waiver programmes, and managed care. Agencies almost never serve one payer, and each has its own claim format, authorisation rules and timing, so an EMR that handles only Medicare leaves the rest to be billed by hand.

Electronic visit verification is integrated into the agency workflow rather than bolted on, with live monitoring of visits and alerts for delays. Live delay alerting is the operationally useful part, since knowing a caregiver has not arrived while there is still time to send someone else is worth considerably more than a report the following morning.
