What is First Due EMS?

First Due publishes an EMS and fire platform covering electronic patient care reporting, pre-incident planning, hydrant management, scheduling, personnel, events and activities, training and a learning management system, with NERIS software announced as coming and provision across the United States and Canada.

Pre-incident planning alongside patient care reporting is the combination worth explaining, because the two serve entirely different moments and share the same crews.

A pre-incident plan is what a crew needs to know before arriving somewhere: where the building's shut-offs are, whether there are hazardous materials on site, how many floors, where the standpipe connects, whether anyone in the building needs assistance evacuating. That information is gathered during inspections and is only useful if it reaches the responding crew while they are travelling.

Patient care reporting is what happens afterwards, documenting assessment, treatment and transport for clinical, legal and billing purposes.

The connection is that both belong to the same incident and the same crew, and running them in separate systems means a responder switches applications during the worst moments of their working day.

Hydrant management is the unglamorous capability that matters enormously. A crew arriving at a fire needs water, and knowing which nearby hydrants work, their flow rate and when they were last tested is the difference between fighting a fire and searching for a functioning connection.

NERIS support being announced matters because the reporting standard is changing, and departments need their existing vendor to make that transition rather than migrating during it.

Pricing is not published, which is standard for public safety software.
