LocationSmart

LocationSmart is a cloud-based location API platform, and a subsidiary of Locance, built around two distinct problems rather than general location marketing. The first is gaming geolocation compliance: verifying that an online or mobile user is physically inside a jurisdiction where a wager is legal before allowing it. That is a regulatory requirement rather than a marketing feature, covering online sports betting, casino gaming, poker, daily fantasy sports and internet or mobile lottery, each governed state by state.

The second is locating connected devices. The platform locates internet of things and mobile machine-to-machine assets globally, and the vendor is specific about the hard cases it handles: devices deep indoors, inside containers, or otherwise beyond the reach of standard positioning. That capability underpins its supply chain visibility and asset monitoring offerings, where the value is knowing where something is when GPS alone would fail.

Around those sit compliance and security functions. Secure purchases and real-money wagers are validated against location, access to localised digital content is managed by geography, and a cybersecurity and anti-fraud strand uses location as a signal for protecting online and digital assets. For supply chain users the vendor frames the benefit as better remote visibility, real-time status updates and more informed planning decisions.
