What is AWS Amplify?

AWS Amplify is a set of tools and services from Amazon Web Services for building full-stack web and mobile applications. It provides Git-based CI/CD hosting with support for frameworks like React, Angular, Vue, Next.js, and Nuxt, plus a fullstack TypeScript backend layer for defining data models, authentication, and business logic that maps to underlying AWS services such as Cognito, AppSync, DynamoDB, and Lambda. Per-developer cloud sandbox environments and pull request previews support fast iteration.

Amplify follows AWS's pay-as-you-go pricing model, with no charge for team collaboration seats. A free tier covers modest hosting, build minutes, and server-side rendering usage, and costs scale with actual storage, data transfer, and compute consumption once free tier limits are exceeded. Because backend features rely on individual AWS services, total cost also depends on separate usage of Cognito, DynamoDB, Lambda, and related services under AWS's standard pricing.
