ZebraDesigner

ZebraDesigner is label design software from Zebra Technologies, built to work with Zebra's own barcode and label printers. It covers designing labels with barcodes, text and graphics, and printing them to the printer range Zebra manufactures.

Being tied to the manufacturer's hardware is both the limitation and the point. Label printers differ substantially in supported barcode symbologies, resolution, media handling and command languages, and generic design software must abstract those differences and inevitably loses access to printer specific capability. Software written for a known printer range can use those features directly and can be confident the output will print as designed.

For an organisation already standardised on Zebra printers, which is a large share of the warehousing and logistics market, that alignment removes a class of problem where a label looks correct on screen and prints wrong.

The trade is obvious: an organisation with a mixed printer estate needs software that supports all of it, and vendor tied design software becomes an obstacle rather than a convenience. Zebra distributes the software through its global site with regional and language variants across the Americas, Europe and Asia.
