Aljex

Aljex is a transportation management system built for freight brokers, now part of Descartes, and it publishes a clear three tier rate card in a category where quoted pricing is the norm.

The entry tier is 699 dollars a month and includes DAT or Truckstop load board integration along with Pro Miles for mileage calculation. The middle tier is 999 dollars a month, adding Descartes Analytics and one customer EDI connection, with a one time implementation charge. The top tier is 2,375 dollars a month, covering multiple customer EDI connections and a dedicated customer success manager.

EDI connections being the axis on which the tiers turn is telling and accurate to how brokerage works. Electronic data interchange is how larger shippers require their partners to exchange load tenders, status updates and invoices, so a broker winning a major account frequently discovers that connection is a prerequisite rather than an enhancement.

The functional set covers carrier management, shipment visibility, lane pricing, capacity sourcing, accounting, EDI and messaging.
