What is FreeAgent?

FreeAgent is online accounting software for small businesses, with UK pricing published for limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and landlords and separate offers for accountants and bookkeepers. Its pitch is confidence in the numbers and streamlined admin, whether a business is rapidly growing or just wants to get Making Tax Digital done, and it is Making Tax Digital-compatible so the books stay compliant.

Day to day, FreeAgent keeps accurate digital records and asks users to explain their bank transactions, with detailed help articles, guides, webinar recordings and a UK-based support team for when they get stuck. Optional add-ons extend it: unlimited receipt and bill captures unlock the Smart Capture tool for automatic data extraction, transaction matching and categorisation of receipt and bill images and files, and a Connect with Amazon add-on links an Amazon UK Marketplace account. A new integration with Equali handles e-commerce bookkeeping for sellers on Amazon, Shopify, eBay and Etsy, with 20% off Equali for FreeAgent customers.

Pricing is published by business type, with a 30-day free trial and cancellation at any time. Limited companies pay a regular £33 a month, with an introductory £16.50 for the first six months, or £330 a year, and the annual plans for partnerships or LLPs, sole traders and unincorporated landlords work out at £11.25, £7.92 and £4.17 a month equivalent in the first year. Customers with a business current account at NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland or Ulster Bank can get FreeAgent free for as long as they keep the account. All prices exclude 20% VAT.
