PhoneRescue

PhoneRescue is iMobie's mobile data recovery product, covering both iOS and Android from Windows and Mac. The vendor states it has recovered data for more than 5,700,000 users and that it handles up to 31 file types, including photos, messages and other content that cannot be replaced. A 60 day money back guarantee is offered.

Breadth of file type coverage is the specific claim, and it separates serious recovery tools from the many that handle only photos. Photos are the easiest case because they are large, contiguous and stored predictably. Messages, call history, notes, app data and voice memos are stored in databases that behave differently and are far more likely to be the thing a user actually cannot replace, so the count of supported types is a more informative number than the headline recovery rate.

Designing for the non technical user is stated plainly, with a step by step wizard and the claim that it requires no technical knowledge. That is the right emphasis, because a person who has just lost data is under time pressure and is not going to learn a tool first.

Privacy is framed the same way, with the vendor stating that recovered data remains accessible only to the user, which addresses an obvious hesitation about handing a phone's contents to software.
