What is OMP?

OMP provides supply chain planning software covering network design, demand management, sales and operations planning, scheduling, operational planning, data management and integration, and supply chain analytics, delivered on cloud. It is sold into a defined set of process industries: chemicals, consumer goods, life sciences, metals, paper, plastics and packaging, building products and tyres.

Restricting the industry list is the notable commercial choice and it is defensible in this category. Process manufacturing plans differently from discrete manufacturing: campaigns rather than batches of units, changeovers that cost hours of cleaning, co products and by products that arrive whether wanted or not, and shelf life that constrains how far ahead anything can be made. A planning tool built around those realities fits a chemicals plant in a way a general purpose one does not, and the trade off is that it has nothing to say to a car assembly line.

Decision centric planning is the stated approach, framing the software around the decisions a planner must make rather than around the plan as a document. Advisory, implementation and user engagement services are sold alongside, which is consistent with a product that requires modelling before it produces value.

An academy and certification programme address the same reality, since planning software of this depth fails when the planners are not trained on it.
