Frends

Frends is a European AI-augmented integration platform covering workflow automation, API management, data and application integration, hybrid deployment and long-running processes, priced by consumption at a granularity most competitors do not offer.

The credit model is unusually fine-grained and deliberately so. One Frends Credit costs one eurocent and invoicing occurs per 1,000 credits, so ten euros. The company is explicit about why the unit is that small: it prevents the problem that rounding up would make small loops expensive. That is a real consideration, because an integration iterating over a few hundred records should not cost the same as one processing a few hundred thousand, and coarse billing units punish exactly the granular automation that platforms claim to encourage.

European positioning is a genuine differentiator rather than geography. Organisations subject to EU data residency requirements, and public sector bodies in particular, often cannot use a platform whose control plane sits outside Europe regardless of where the data is processed. Government and public sector appears first in the industry list, alongside energy and utilities, manufacturing and financial services.

Long-running processes deserve their own mention because they are genuinely hard. Most integration platforms are built around short transactions, while a process that waits days for an approval or an external event needs durable state and resumability. Hybrid deployment allows on-premises execution where data cannot leave. Named use cases include BizTalk migration, EDI to ERP integration, employee lifecycle automation, legacy platform migration, order to cash, procure to pay and IT workflow automation, with agentic AI, enterprise MCP and an AI connector alongside.
