Workato

Workato is an enterprise integration platform as a service that has extended well past connecting applications into API management, data orchestration, master data management, B2B and EDI, intelligent document processing, robotic process automation, low-code applications and a full agentic AI layer.

The MCP gateway is the most strategically interesting addition. Model Context Protocol is how AI assistants reach enterprise systems, and the governance problem it creates is exactly the one iPaaS vendors already solved for integrations: which system can an agent reach, with what credentials, under what audit trail and what rate limit. A company that has spent years centralising integration governance is better placed to govern agent access than one starting fresh, because it is the same problem with a new client.

Agent Studio and Agent Orchestration cover building and coordinating agents, and Workato Genies are prebuilt agents for IT, sales, human resources and recruiting, support, customer experience and marketing, with the option to build your own. Otto by Workato and enterprise search complete that layer.

Workato Embedded is the other distinct business, letting software vendors embed integration capability inside their own products rather than building connectors themselves. That is a genuinely different proposition from selling to end customers, since the buyer is a product team whose users never know Workato is involved, and it extends to embedded enterprise MCP for SaaS.
