What is AVEVA?

AVEVA is an industrial software company whose portfolio runs from engineering and design through construction project management and asset lifecycle management to operations control, production optimisation and supply chain, serving the process industries where oil and gas sits.

Covering the entire asset lifecycle in one portfolio is the position, and in process industries that is a genuinely coherent strategy rather than product sprawl. A refinery or platform is designed, engineered, constructed, commissioned, operated for decades and eventually decommissioned, and the engineering data created at design time governs how it is maintained thirty years later. Engineering data management appears in both the engineering and the data management sections for exactly that reason.

Digital twin is the concept binding the AVEVA portfolio together. A twin of an operating plant lets changes be simulated before execution, which in a process environment is the difference between testing an idea and testing it on live equipment carrying hydrocarbons. Simulation and industrial training sit alongside it, and training on a simulated plant is how operators learn to handle upset conditions they must never create in reality.

The wider AVEVA capability list covers industrial intelligence, AI, cloud, connected worker, edge computing, extended reality, industrial internet of things, SCADA and HMI, asset performance management, and data sharing, enrichment, analysis and visualisation. Connected worker and extended reality address the field technician, where the practical problem is getting engineering information to someone standing at the equipment. The platform is published in eight languages with partner, academia and training programmes. Pricing is not published.

AVEVA FAQs

Rates are not published. Industrial software is quoted on the modules licensed, plant or project scale and the number of users, typically under enterprise agreements.

A process plant is designed, constructed, operated for decades and decommissioned, and the engineering data created at design time governs how it is maintained thirty years later.

Simulating changes before executing them on live equipment, which in a process environment carrying hydrocarbons is the difference between testing an idea safely and testing it in production.

Capability aimed at the field technician, addressing the practical problem of getting engineering and operations information to someone standing at the equipment rather than at a desk.

The process industries broadly, including oil and gas, chemicals, power and utilities, marine and mining, with software spanning engineering, construction, operations and supply chain.
