Progress Sitefinity

Sitefinity is Progress Software's content management system and digital experience product, and understanding it means understanding that it sits inside a much larger portfolio. Progress spans AI, a data platform and digital experience, and Sitefinity is the digital experience component, described as real solutions for an organisation and its end users, configured to be flexible and scalable.

The most current development is Agentic RAG for Sitefinity, part of a wider Progress data platform capability that also covers OpenEdge. Retrieval augmented generation over a content repository is a genuinely useful application for a CMS: it lets an organisation's own published content answer questions directly rather than requiring a visitor to find the right page. Progress also offers a Generative CMS and Context Box within the same data platform.

That AI capability being delivered through the shared Progress data platform rather than bolted onto the CMS alone is the structural point. An organisation already using Progress products gets the connection between them; one adopting Sitefinity alone gets a capable CMS with AI features attached.

Progress positions its technologies as empowering organisations to turn complex data into strategic advantage, and publishes AI thought leadership alongside the products. For buyers, the practical question is scope: Sitefinity is a serious enterprise CMS, but the surrounding platform is where much of the current investment is going, so it is worth establishing which parts of the portfolio a given requirement actually needs.
