Morpholio Board

Morpholio Board is an interior design application for creating mood boards, developing concepts and presenting schemes, part of the Morpholio suite alongside Trace for drawing and Journal. Morpholio and Vectorworks are now cloud connected, linking the concept tools to a professional CAD environment.

Mood boards are a specific and underserved part of the design process. Before any drawing happens, a designer assembles materials, finishes, furniture and colour into a composition that communicates the intent of a scheme, and that is how the idea is sold to a client. Most design software begins after that decision, treating the concept stage as something done in a general purpose tool or on paper.

Being built for iPad rather than adapted to it matters here, because concept work is visual and tactile and suits direct manipulation with a pencil far better than a mouse. Designers also present to clients on a tablet, so creating and presenting in the same place is natural rather than a compromise.

The Vectorworks connection addresses what happens next. A concept eventually becomes a drawing set, and linking to professional CAD means the transition does not start from nothing, so the work invested in the concept carries forward into the documentation rather than being redrawn.
