FourKites

FourKites provides supply chain visibility through an intelligent control tower, built on what it calls the FourKites Network Graph, a data asset assembled from carriers, countries and brands connected to the platform.

The network is the defensible position and the vendor is right to lead with it. Visibility software is not hard to specify, but its usefulness depends entirely on how many carriers actually report into it. A platform already connected to a large carrier population gives a new shipper coverage immediately, whereas a new entrant must build each connection, and carriers have little incentive to integrate with a platform few of their customers use.

Calling it a graph rather than a database points at something real. Supply chain data is relational, connecting shipments to carriers to facilities to orders to customers, and the value comes from the connections rather than the records. Knowing a truck is late matters because of the order it carries and the customer expecting it.

Control tower is the operational framing: a single place where exceptions across the network surface and are worked. That suits how large shippers organise, with a team watching for problems rather than each planner monitoring their own shipments.
