Method 1: A web downloader (no app needed)
- On Facebook, open the video, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open FDown (fdown.net) or SnapSave (snapsave.app) in your browser.
- Paste the link and choose Normal or HD quality.
- On iPhone, Safari saves the file to the Files app; on Android and computers it goes to Downloads.
Only public videos work. Videos shared to friends-only or in private groups cannot be fetched by outside tools.
Method 2: Your own videos
- On a video you uploaded, open the post’s menu (three dots) and look for the Download option.
- To get everything at once, use Download your information in Facebook’s Accounts Center settings.
Method 3: Save for later (in the app)
Tap the three dots on a video and choose Save video. It goes to your Saved list in Facebook to watch later. This does not create a file on your device.
Downloaded videos still belong to the people who made them. Saving a clip to watch offline is a personal use; reposting it without permission can break the platform’s terms and copyright law.
Staying safe with downloader sites
- Never enter a social media password on a downloader site.
- Close pop-ups and new tabs; the real button sits next to the box where you pasted the link.
- Do not install extensions, “codecs” or apps a downloader pushes.
- Check the address bar: popular names have many copycat domains.
