When a matter involves several firms, the platform they can all work in is frequently the deciding factor.

A legal hold begins when litigation becomes reasonably anticipated, which is frequently long before any case is filed. From that moment the organisation must preserve relevant material and stop routine deletion, and it must be able to demonstrate later that it did so.
