Stellar Data Recovery

Stellar Data Recovery is part of an unusually broad range of recovery and repair tools rather than a single application, which matters when evaluating it: the right Stellar product depends heavily on what was lost and where it lived.

The general recovery products cover lost or deleted Office documents, emails, presentations and multimedia files, with dedicated tools for recovering photos, videos and audio from all cameras and storage on Windows or Mac, and a separate product recovering deleted photos, videos, contacts and messages directly from iPhone and iPad.

Repair is treated as a distinct discipline from recovery, and this is where Stellar's range is genuinely deep. Corrupt video files can be repaired in batches with support for MP4, MOV and other formats, and corrupt photos likewise for JPEG and others. The distinction matters in practice: a file that is present but unreadable needs repair, not recovery, and most recovery tools cannot help with it.

The mail-focused range is more specialised still, covering OLM Repair for Outlook for Mac 2011 and 2016 backup files and an Exchange Toolkit that repairs EDB and Exchange backup files to restore mailboxes, converts OST to PST and EDB to PST. Those are administrator tools rather than consumer software. Stellar also provides secure erasure, deliberately the inverse capability, with a file eraser that puts sensitive files beyond recovery and an iPhone eraser for wiping a device. Pricing varies by product and is not published as a single rate.
