Constructor, still widely known by its constructor.io domain, is an AI-native product discovery platform for ecommerce. Its architecture centres on what the company calls a Commerce Reasoning Engine, which interprets shopper behaviour, context and intent to decide which products to surface, and applies the same reasoning across every touchpoint rather than treating search, browse and recommendations as separate systems.

The suite is unusually broad for a search vendor. Alongside ecommerce search driven by AI and real-time shopper behaviour, it covers natural language shopping, generated and answered product questions that help shoppers buy with confidence, personalized category pages, product discovery for items shoppers did not know they wanted, and recommendation experiences. Sponsored products and retail media are included, positioned as unlocking paid revenue without sacrificing the customer experience, which is the usual tension in retail media placement.
